Former England international Andros Townsend has signed for Everton on a free transfer. Townsend left Crystal Palace at the expiration of his contract after the 2020/21 season.
The Merseyside club announced the signing of the English footballer following his successful medical on Monday. Town signed a two-year deal with Toffees after joining on a free transfer, the club confirmed.
Everton came close to a champions league finish last season in the Premier League. The addition of Townsend will see their odds of a top-four finish soar.
Townsend links up with Benitez.
Townsend will rejoin his former boss Rafa Benitez at Goodison Park. Townsend had played under the tutelage of Benitez while both men were at St James' Park. The 30-year-old winger joined Crystal Palace from Benitez's Newcastle in 2016 when the Tyneside club got relegated.
However, speaking to Everton Tv, Andros Townsend expressed his delight to have the opportunity to work with Rafa Benitez again. He described the Spaniard as tactically sound and "leaves no stone unturned" in his match preparations.
After completing the move, Townsend was full of praise for the club and the Spanish coach, Rafa Benitez. He also made promises to Toffees' fans to give his best for such a massive club.
Townsend, whod his career in the youth system at Tottenham, made 13 appearances for The Three Lions. His most extended spell at a club was at London club Crystal Palace. He spent five years with the Eagles before joining Everton this summer.
The Goodison Park Residents are also looking to bring in Manchester United's hot property Jesse Lingard. Everton will, however, face a fierce battle in the pursuit of the United man. The likes of Atletico Madrid and West Ham United are said to be interested in the services of Lingard. Betpack will give you instant updates as the Lingard battles develop.
