They have been forced to sell Harry Maguire and N’golo Kante over the years. It is the fate of clubs the size of Leicester as ambitious players who want to move to higher challenges and brighter opportunities for silverware.
Another Leicester City player is in the news. Youri Tielemans has been in top form and may leave the King Power Stadium this summer. It would be challenging for the Foxes to keep the Belgian player who has attracted the interest of top clubs in England.
Tottenham circling around Tielemans
Youri Tielemans continues to give Leicester City headaches. The club remains undecided between selling the player this summer or letting him go for free next season. It is not a bright prospect either way for the Foxes. The Belgian midfielder has posted striking performances for Leicester City and has been a vital cog for them since joining the club from Monaco in January 2019.
It took just half a season for Tielemans to convince the top brass at Leicester that he was top material. The Belgian’s performances earned him a permanent deal worth around £40.5 million and a four-year contract at the King Power Stadium. It seems the relationship is approaching the end of the road as interested parties are on the verge of snatching him away from Leicester City.
Tottenham are ahead of the queue among interested parties and are favourites by bookmakers to land the player. The North London club is confident that the Belgian midfielder is open to moving in the summer. They believe they have done enough for Tielemans to consider them the first choice in the summer.
According to GiveMeSport, the top brass at Tottenham are confident they will land the 24-year-old. They believe he is open to a summer move.
Speculations amid competition
Tielemans’ contract expires in the summer of 2023, and speculations are rife about where his future lies. The Belgian has impressive performances at the King Power Stadium and has made 147 appearances for the Foxes. He has scored 24 goals with 22 assists in his time at the club.
Asides Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are all interested in the midfielder. The fee to land the midfielder is well within an affordable range. It could lead to a bidding war, which favours Leicester City. A report suggests that the Belgian midfielder could be available for as little as £25 million. Leicester City are still working for him to extend his contract, but it is unlikely the Belgian would acquiesce to an extension.
If Spurs qualify for the Champions League, it would be a bargaining chip for the Londoners.
