The biggest transfer news of the summer came after Cristiano Ronaldo completed a stunning return to Manchester United from Juventus. For expected reasons, it stole the entire buzz and also created a positive vibe among the club’s fanbase. If that wasn’t enough, that single transfer was enough to see bookmakers increase the odds for Manchester United to win the Premier League. If that also wasn’t enough, more than 400,000 CR7 shirts were sold within mere hours.
While this is good news for the club and fans, it is bad news for a certain Manchester United star in Donny Van de Beek. The Dutchman has found game time hard to come by since joining the Red Devils and the presence of yet another attacking player further limits his chances.
The player’s agent, Guido Albers, has now openly admitted that his camp was sad to see the return of Cristiano Ronaldo, due to obvious reasons.
What has been said
It is a given that Cristiano Ronaldo will be ar at any club, despite his age at 36. His presence back in the United setup means he will take up his usual role on the left, meaning there will even be tougher competition for slots, especially in the middle of the park. The duo of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes are almost untouchable at the moment, given their form and it would be difficult to see how a player like Van de Beek fits in all of these.
Still speaking to Ziggo Sport as quoted by the Mirror, Guido Albers went on to add that talks had already been opened with Everton regarding a possible move. However, it would appear Ole Solskjaer moved in late to pull the plug on any such deal happening.
Van de Beek to get more game time?
In all honesty, it is a puzzle to see how the 24-year-old will get more game time but the report further adds that the player has been given an assurance from Ole Solskjaer himself.
The player joined United with so much expectation and promise on his shoulders but has failed to deliver in any way, having got little to no chances.
The report adds that Van de Beek has been promised more game time in the Premier League and is set to be a more integral part of the United setup.
Last season, hed only four Premier League games for the club and was often seen looking dejected and out of sorts while on the bench.
In the current campaign so far, Van de Beek is yet to play for United in the Premier League as well. He has featured on the bench in their opening three games but remained an unused substitute on all occasions.
