All summer speculations have been rife over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Juventus, and amid several denials by player, agent and coach, the rumours have refused to die down. It is almost certain that Ronaldo will cease to be a Juventus player this summer as reports have it that the Portuguese star has hit Juventus with a transfer request.
Ronaldo is tired of Turin, Man City now an option
Ronaldo may have won titles at Juventus, but he has not conquered Italy as in England and Spain. Whispers have turned to loud grumbling and it is now clear that Ronaldo is tired of life in Turin.
As per Sky Sports, Ronaldo seems to have handed in a transfer request as he pushes for a move away from Juventus. A few years ago, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner would have had a queue trying to get his signature. He is not rich on suitors at the moment, with Manchester City the only side looking to sign him.
Man City are yet to make an official bid, and Juve are waiting. According to Fabrizio Romano, things are in motion for a deal that will take Ronaldo to the Etihad.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is trying to broker the deal as discussions with City continue.
United fans up in arms over Ronaldo’s speculated move
The rumours of an impending move to Manchester City by Cristiano Ronaldo has generated a lot of heat, with social media agog with the news. Fans of the Old Trafford side have not taken the information in good faith as theyct venom Ronaldo’s way.
Ronaldo is a Manchester United legend, and as such, fans of the club are unwilling to accept that one of their legends would turn out for local rivals City.
Meanwhile, fellow United legend Wayne Rooney is unsure if the deal will happen. Based on the relationship between the two clubs, Rooney does not think it will happen.
If the deal is concluded, it won’t be the first time United legends would have swapped jerseys with their cross-city rivals. Schmeichel, Andy Cole and Denis Law who scored a goal that relegated Manchester United.

Earlier reports claim City have a two-year deal on the table for Ronaldo that would make him the highest-paid player at the Etihad.
