It’s a transfer merry-go-round as Lukaku’s departure for Chelsea hasd a chain reaction. Tammy Abraham has struggled for game-time under Thomas Tuchel and latest reports hint he could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge. Italian side AS Roma have reportedly agreed a deal to sign the English forward.
Abraham no longer wanted at the Bridge
Tammy Abraham was Lampard’s preferred whilst at the helm at Chelsea, even over Olivier Giroud. Lampard showed interest in developing English youth talent. That meant Abraham got more playing time before Lampard got the boot for poor results.
Last season, Tammy played 22 league matches, scoring six goals in them. Time changes things, and the introduction of Thomas Tuchel forced him down the pecking order as the German opted for a differentction. With opportunities hard to come by, it is clear that Tammy is surplus to requirements, and Chelsea have put him in the shop window as they try to recoup funds following Lukaku’s imminent arrival.
Roma make a move for Abraham as they lose Dzeko
AS Roma need a striker, and head coach Mourinho has returned to his old stomping to poach one.
With Edin Dzeko on his way to Inter Milan, Roma are left with a gap to fill, and with little cash to spend, the 23-year-old Tammy Abraham has popped on their radar. As per the Daily Mail, Roma have made their move proposing a £34 million deal. The deal entails an initial loan with an option to buy, which Chelsea do not fancy but will be willing to consider.
The West London club would prefer an outright sale for the Nigerian born English international as they look to recover some cash after a heavy £98m fee to sign Lukaku. Chelsea are also in the market to snap Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.
After their Scudetto victory, clarity set in for Inter, with the books that needed to be balanced. It led to Conte’s departure. Others have followed him out the door. Achraf Hakimi joined PSG in a sizable transfer move, and now it is Lukaku who is also walking out the door after initially baulking at thea.
Lukaku flew to Nice on Monday evening with his agent Federico Pastorello. They will hold meetings on Tuesday morning before finally heading to London to finalize the deal that will bring Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge.
Abraham fancies working with Mourinho
Abraham prefers to stay in England and has already rejected an offer to play for Atalanta. However, thea of working with Jose Mourinho at Roma has proved enticing, and the young lad wouldn’t mind playing in Serie A if it would mean playing under the Portuguese manager.
Arsenal are also in the frame to bring Abraham to The Emirates with Alexandre Lacazette’s future unsure.
