The Mbappe saga is one that will surely drag on until the youngster signs a new deal or perhaps moves to a new club soon over. It is no secret that the Frenchman has been a subject of interest from Real Madrid all summer. Real Madrid saw no less than three bids rejected for the mercurial winger.
A first bid of €160m was quickly rejected by PSG before Los Blancos made an improved offer which suffered the same fate. There were hopes a deadline day bid of €220m could test PSG’s resolve, but they remained adamant in their stance to keep their prized asset at the club.
Much recently, Mbappe rejected the latest contract offer from PSG, which would have seen him earn a whooping €45m net per season. PSG sportingctor Leonardo has said the club would no longer offer any deal, but it could be a bluff on their path.
A report by Marca claims the French giants are now hoping to use some strategies to try and convince Mbappe to sign a new deal. We take a look at the most prominent ones below.
Offer him a shorter contract
It could be that Mbappe doesn’t want to stay at PSG for much longer, having won almost everything there is to be won with the club. The 22-year-old is seeking a new challenge, and it makes sense that thea of a renewed ‘long-term’ contract will not sit well with him. However, Mbappe is yet to win the Champions League in his career, and perhaps a mere two-year deal could come as something to consider for the youngster. A two-year deal means more time to win the Champions League and also still comes as favourable enough to wait until he gets his dream move to Real Madrid.
The presence of Messi and Neymar
Two close friends in Messi and Neymar are finally reunited after four years since they last played together at Barcelona. The pair currently share one of the best ‘bromances’ in football, and PSG are hoping Mbappe could be lured by the thoughts of forming a formidable trio alongside two of the best players in world football.
Even the president has had his say
Keeping a Frenchman like Mbappe in France is good for the country’s image, and it is no surprise that this piece of transfer news has even grown to be political.
It is now reported that French President Emmanuel Macron has even reached out to Mbappe personally, trying to convince him to remain at PSG.
Creating stronger ties with Mbappe’s charities
PSG could take things further to show their support to Mbappe by helping him set up and expand several charity foundations in France aimed at helping less privileged children. PSG have already tried this approach on Neymar, having helped him build schools and charities in Brazil. It seemed to work with the Brazilian, and they will now hope this sort of strategy can have the same effect on the Frenchman.
Whatever happens, Mbappe is allowed to speak with new clubs and even agree to a pre-contract dealng January 1, 2021. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with any new development on Mbappe as well as the latest transfer news around the football world here on Betpack!
