Kylian Mbappe is a well-sought player across the biggest clubs in Europe. The World Cup winner has the world at his feet.
Real Madrid want a player with star status to arrive at the club next summer. Los Blancos want a young player within this mould to lead the club into the future, and French star Kylian Mbappe fits the bill.
It is no secret that Real Madrid have bided their time in their Mbappe pursuit. The Spanish team made an audacious move for the 22-year-old in the summer, which PSG snubbed. The player is in the final year of his contract with PSG, who are keen to keep the player.
Mbappe has always maintained his preference for Real Madrid
Real Madrid’s confidence and chances of snaring the player has taken a hit, with recent reports suggesting Mbappe is no longer keen on the Real Madrid project.
Has Mbappe made a U-turn on Real Madrid move?
Come January, Kylian Mbappe will be able to negotiate a pre-contract with any club of his choice. With his contract coming to an end next summer, PSG is working overtime to convince the 22-year-old that his future lies in Paris. With little success made in thatction, Real Madrid remains confident in landing Mbappe.
While several clubs are interested in the services of Mbappe, Real Madrid are ahead of the queue to land the Frenchman’s signature. The Madrid based side showed their seriousness with two bids of well over £100 million.
Recent reports, however, suggest that Mbappe has developed cold feet about joining Real Madrid and has shown a preference for Liverpool. According to El Nacional (via Sports Mole), Mbappe holds no confidence in Ancelotti and would rather play under Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
The sudden turn of events could push Liverpool to the head of the queue as Real Madrid would lose ground in convincing him that Madrid would be best for him. It would make for a happy ending for Real Madrid if they got Klopp.
Alternatives for Real Madrid
Real Madrid are no pushovers in the market and will be ready to go to the mattresses to secure their man. If they fail to bring Mbappe to the Spanish capital, other alternatives in the market could deliver on the promise they desire.
Erling Haaland tops the bill. The prolific Borussia Dortmund striker holds as much potential as Kylian Mbappe. The Norwegian youngster is also keen to join Real Madrid.
Los Blancos may not need to look too far beyond their noses for a star to ignite the Santiago Bernabeu. In Vinicius Jr, Real Madrid has a star who could shine for a long time. The Brazilian youngster has blossomed this season under Carlo Ancelotti. The Brazilian cost Real Madrid €46 million.
