Dark clouds hover Paris Saint-Germain as the French club is far from the level they desire. The club has built a fantastic squad, with the summer additions of Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Georgino Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi supposed to improve the team. Their performances have so far been less thanal despite being top of Ligue 1, 11 points ahead of their closest rivals - Nice.

Question marks have emerged over the suitability of Mauricio Pochettino, and the Argentine has come under immense pressure in recent weeks, with rumours suggesting a possible move to Manchester United.

Manchester United links hover over Pochettino

The Argentine has not had a stellar performance at PSG, with suggestions of his interest in joining Manchester United refusing to go away.

Manchester United are hunting for a new manager following the dismissal of the ineffectual Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. One name that has been on the list of potential managers for the Red Devils has been Pochettino.

With Ralf Rangnick at the helm, the Red Devils will appoint a new manager in the summer.

As per Telefoot, Pochettino is heavily favoured to take over from the German. Pochettino was on the cards to take over from Jose Mourinho after he departed from Old Trafford, but he was beaten to the punch by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, whose failure after three years led to his sacking.

Pochettino has troubles at PSG

The arrival of Mauricio Pochettino at PSG has not been smooth sailing, with the club dissatisfied with the results the Argentine has churned out. Before his appointment at PSG, many had argued that Pochettino was not the right man to take the club forward, and they seem to have been proved right.

The appointment of Pochettino has not gone to script, and on Monday, another chapter unfolded. The Parisians were bundled out of the French Cup by Nice on penalties. PSG remains top of Ligue 1, 11 points ahead of Nice. It is the Champions League that interests the owners.

The Parisians will be tested on February 15 when they take on Real Madrid in the Champions League, with the second leg on March 9.

PSG may replace Pochettino with Zinedine Zidane if they fail in the Champions League. Zidane’s shadow has loomed over the Argentine manager, and it seems the former Spurs boss is living on borrowed time.

Despite ruling himself out of the United job, the rumours have refused to go away. Pochettino has failed to get his array of stars to click, which may be the biggest argument against him. Pochettino will also contend with Erik Ten Hag for the United role.
