Lacazette admits talks with a lot of clubs over possible Arsenal exit

Lacazette claims to be in talks with several clubs and reveals his desire to play in the Champions League.

Arsenal have found themselves in a spot as the season winds down. The Gunners are poised to lose a couple of players in the summer, making it imperative that they make summer signings. The North London club let their most productive striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave in the summer. The Gabon international is enjoying a new lease of life in Barcelona. Arsenal also failed in their bid to land former Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, who opted to join Juventus.

Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette could be leaving the Emirates stadium in the summer, and Mikel Arteta will be hard-pressed to replace them with the quality that matches their aspirations. Arsenal are currently challenging for a place in the top four. A couple of weeks ago, the North London side were a shoo-in to finish in a Champions League spot and bookmakers had them locked on for that spot. However, three consecutive losses means they have slipped a few notches off the pace.

The dream is still alive, but the Gunners cannot afford to lose any more matches with six games to go. As the season winds down, Lacazette has opened up on his future and time at Arsenal.

Lacazette could leave Arsenal in the summer

Lacazette has not been a prolific marksman for Arsenal, and few Arsenal fans would miss him when he leaves the Emirate Stadium. In 153 league appearances for Arsenal, Lacazette has managed just 54 goals. The Frenchman has a career total of 71 goals from 201 matches at Arsenal. It is not the return of a striker at a club that aspires for great exploits.

It has been a dramatic season for Lacazette, who was named captain in February following the sanction of Aubameyang. No one knows what the future holds for the Frenchman, except that he would leave in the summer following the expiration of his contract.

Lacazette’s next step is unknown, but the Frenchman claims he is mulling over the offers on the table. In a recent interview with Canal+, Lacazette opened up on his time at Arsenal, his future and claims there’s plenty of interest in his services.

An unclear future

Mikel Arteta has made no effort to retain Alexandre Lacazette beyond the summer, and the Frenchman is already plotting his next move. While Lacazette is unsure of his landing spot, he is clear about his desires. After five years at Arsenal, the 30-year-old is ready for a fresh challenge. The Frenchman wants to play for a club in the Champions League.

Speaking with Canal+, Lacazette refused to return to Lyon. He claims to maintain a close bond with Lyon and returns there once or twice a year to see the medical staff. He, however, admitted it was a bit more complicated joining Lyon due to their absence in the Champions League.

Speaking on other things, Lacazette said he didn’t expect a friendship with Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang to blossom, as he didn’t like him before they met. He claims to have had a misconception about Aubameyang before they met. He believes people don’t know him and misconstrue the Instagram personality for the real Aubameyang. He concluded that he enjoys his current role as captain of the club.
