The Swiss midfielder has refused to renew his contract with Borussia Monchengladbach and could be a free agent in the summer.
It has been less than a stellar season for Juventus. The Bianconeri are struggling to keep pace in Serie A. They are currently fifth on the log, 12 points behind league leaders Inter Milan.
Coach Massimiliano Allegri is still to find a solution to the team’s woes. With many of their players misfiring, Allegri is giving thought to bolstering his squad. The Old Lady is unconvinced it should bring in more players, especially as the club is in financial straits.
Juventus have an eye on Bundesliga midfielder Dennis Zakaria, who could arrive in Turin in the January transfer window.
An eye on Zakaria
Massimiliano Allegri is in the battle of his career. It has been an arduous assignment for the 56-year-old manager whose side have managed to work their way to fifth place. Despite the progress, there are still lapses in the team.
Juventus have eyes on Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria. They are seriously considering bringing the 25-year-old Swiss midfielder to Turin.
Il Bianconero reports that Juventus want to solidify their interest in Zakaria and accelerate the quest to land him before other clubs zoom in. With limited funds available to the Old lady, they cannot afford a bidding war and want to get ahead of the competition by snapping the player in January.
A misfiring midfield
Juventus boast of a horde of midfielders, but they have been desperately pathetic this season. With a misfiring midfield, Allegri has to reinforce. The manager wants to play his hand by dipping into the market for reinforcements.
Adrien Rabiot, Arthur Melo, and Rodrigo Bentancur have not delivered the results the Turin-based side desires. Elsewhere, Aaron Ramsey has decided he's eager to leave the Turin-based club.
There are options available to the Bianconeri, one of which is bringing back Nicolo Rovella, currently on loan at Genoa. Juventus, however, want to explore bringing in a new player.
According to a Per report, Juventus are ramping up on thea of making an early move for Zakaria in the January transfer window. Juventus could wait till the summer to land the Swiss midfielder for free but are wary of interest from other clubs.
Zakaria has refused to renew with the Bundesliga side and becomes a free agent in the summer. Monchengladbach would be keen to sell to recoup some funds on the player, as other clubs are on red alert.
Several Premier League clubs are interested in Zakaria and would wait till the summer to land the midfielder. Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Manchester United have all indicated interest in the midfielder. Roma was also in the race for Zakaria, but it seems their interest has cooled off.
Zakaria has made 144 appearances for the Bundesliga side, scoring 11 goals and eight assists.
