Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho will undergo a medical at Manchester United on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old England sensation is set to complete a £73 million move to Old Trafford after United announced that a deal in principle had been agreed with Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho, one of three players who missed their spot-kick in the penalty shootout defeat to Italy on Sunday, is expected at Carrington on Tuesday. Here, he will finalise the terms of his move to Old Trafford. The forward is expected to sign a five-year deal that runs until 2026.
According to Daily Mail, the £73 million fee agreed for Sancho was United’s third offer to Dortmund in this summer’s transfer window.
The £73 million fee is a significant reduction from the £108 million fee demanded by the German club for Sancho last summer. Dortmund initially hoped to sell their man for a fee of £86m but had to lower their demands because Sancho was entering into the final two years of his contract.
Manchester United, who have been after Sancho's signature for over a year, are said to be keen on completing the deal for Sancho in time for their pre-season tour.
Sancho to boost Manchester United’s title chance
Sancho’s addition is set to boost United’s firepower in attack and could see the Manchester Giant finally win the Premier League after an eight-year wait for the title.
Sancho scored a total of 50 goals and an incredible 64 assists in 137 games in his four years as a Dortmund player. He also scored two goals as he inspired the German club to the DFB-Pokal title.
Sancho’s imminent move to Manchester United has made the team one of bookmaker’s favourites to finish in the Champions League places in the 2021/22 Premier League season.
