Inter Milan are preparing to make a formal offer for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial as they seek to replace the departing Romelu Lukaku.

It comes after talks progressed swiftly for the Belgian, who has now informed the Italian side of his desire to make a return to the Premier League.

Inter Milan find themselves in a financial crisis, and a sizable offer of £98m for Lukaku is one they will find difficult to turn down at this point. In the same window, they have already let go of another priced asset in Achraf Hakimi.

With Lukaku now returning to the Premier League, one of his former teammates, Anthony Martial, could come as theal target to replace him at San Siro.

Lukaku in at Chelsea, Martial off to Inter?

It makes sense that Inter are looking to make swift moves in a bid to replace Lukaku. Replacing a striker of his calibre will come as no easy feat, given his imposing presence and his prolific tally last term. For emphasis, his personal league-best of 27 goals last season was enough to fire Inter to their first league title in a decade.

Anthony Martial might not boast such a profile, but he fits the profile of an out-and-out forward Inter are looking to secure. In fact, the Nerazzurri are looking to get two strikers in, following the departure of Lukaku.

It comes after reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Inter are already closing in on a move to sign experienced forward Edin Dzeko from AS Roma.

The Mirror claims that Inter will now prefer to take Anthony Martial on loan from the Red Devils, despite the inflow of cash set to be realized from Lukaku’s sale.

However, the same report adds that United will only consider such a move if Inter agrees with an obligation to buy following the end of the loan move.

The Red Devils are eager to make back a good amount of the £50m they paid to Monaco for the Frenchman six years ago.

Martial to Inter is a win-win for all parties

Anthony Martial moving to Inter is a move that will not only favour the Italian side but the player himself. Injuries saw the Frenchman miss out on a good part of the second half of last season. In the process, he fell below Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford in the pecking order.

At a time where Jadon Sancho is now in the mix, game time might become even more difficult for Martial. At Inter, he will easily walk into their XI as a replacement for Lukaku, and the offset of the Frenchman could also give Ole Solskjaer less selection headache up front.
