Thea of a perfect team does not exist, and any team that needs to have the best players in every position is deluded. Perhaps, the only time a team can have all the best players in its squad is in FIFA, football or football manager.
What a club can do is have a balance in the squad. It is for this reason that many coaches have triumphed over more illustrious sides.
The London club is looking for a midfielder of note to bring balance to the team.
Cheaper alternatives to Rice
Chelsea have been in pursuit of one of their academy graduates. However, the cost of the player has put him almost beyond the reach of the Blues. A figure in the region of £100 million has been mentioned. However, Chelsea are not willing to go that steep for a player that rose through its ranks.
The club is already looking beyond Rice if the Hammers refuse to play ball. The clubctor has already drawn up plans to find cheaper and suitable alternatives as they try to find a balance for Thomas Tuchel's side.
As per Football.London, Marina Granovskaia has seen her plan take her to France, where she looks to bring on board one of Aurelien Tchouameni and Christopher Nkunku. Thea is to sign either of the two come January.
Tchouameni and Nkunku - Are they worth the risk?
Tchouameni and Nkunku are not strangers to Chelsea fans. Former Chelsea midfielder has talked up the two youngsters and is a big fan of Tchouameni. Tchouameni was in the 2020/21 season young player of the season in Ligue 1.
Fabregas describes the player as the modern midfielder and believes he will excite many Chelsea fans. Tchouameni currently plies his trade with Monaco, and Fabregas claims he can be the complete midfielder.
Juventus are also interested in the Monaco midfielder, but Granovskaia is unperturbed. A failure to land the young midfielder, then Nkunku is the next option on the list for Chelsea.
Nkunku has been in fine form in the Champions League this season, netting four goals in two matches. He hit a hat trick against Manchester City on matchday one of the Champions League. Nkunku has turned out displays that have put his name on the map. It is only a matter of time before clubs come in for him.
Transfermarkt puts the player's valuation at £38.7 million, a figure not too steep for the London club. Chelsea looks to make a January bid for both players, especially as Saul Niguez is yet to turn up for Chelsea.
With the turn of things, Declan Rice has dropped down the interest list of the club. Despite Rice's brilliant start to the season, Chelsea will likely walk away as West Ham insists on £100 million.
