Chelsea want to sign the Norwegian to replace the £100 million summer signing Romelu Lukaku.
Two of the most sought players are Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. They are young and extremely good at what they do. Many see Haaland and Mbappe as the next Ronaldo and Messi, but they are already taking the world by storm, with several achievements under their belts.
With the latest revelation that Kylian Mbappe has agreed to a deal with Real Madrid to join them in the summer for free, the path to signing Haaland is lined with mines. Many clubs will now have to gird their loins for a big battle.
It looks sure that Haaland will leave Borussia Dortmund. The German club is resigned to losing the Norwegian striker.
Chelsea are one of the clubs interested in signing Haaland but are wary of a bidding war that might ensue with interest from some powerful clubs.
Chelsea concerned over Haaland interest
Chelsea made a big-money move for Romelu Lukaku in the summer, but it hasn’t gone entirely to script for the Belgian and the London club. The former Inter Milan striker has dipped in form and is a source of worry for Tuchel.
The German coach is in a dilemma. He is trying to get the best out of the Belgian. The London side is looking to make another foray into the transfer market in the summer, with Erling Haaland the target.
Chelsea have concluded going for the Norwegian hitman, but the club’s board have a spot of bother as they strive to bring the Borussia Dortmund forward to Stamford Bridge.
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are not worried about the cost of bringing the Norwegian to London, nor are they bothered about the competition. The Blues are concerned with how the Norwegian would settle into the Premiership.
Many see the Premier League as different from other leagues. There are always worries of foreign players adapting to its rigours, and it is a source of concern for Chelsea, considering the outlay required to land the young striker.
The money and the competition
It will not be a straightforward affair when Chelsea eventually makes a move for Erling Haaland. Chelsea will have to contend with the interest of top clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain for the signature of the 21-year-old striker.
Haaland should leave in the summer, and his performance for Borussia Dortmund has not gone unnoticed by the elite clubs. A £75 million clause in Haaland’s contract will go into effect in the summer, which means it wouldn’t be much of a stretch for the money bags.
Chelsea do not mind shelling that kind of dough despite the £100 million outlay on Romelu Lukaku in the summer. The snag for Chelsea is convincing Haaland to choose London over the others.
Haaland is arguably one of the best players in the world in the last three years, scoring 80 goals in 79 appearances for Borussia Dortmund. He has also scored 12 goals in 15 appearances for Norway.
