Borussia Dortmund Unimpressed by Chelsea’s Offer for Haaland

Borussia Dortmund isn’t keen on letting Erling Haaland leave anytime soon. According to the club’s football executive Michael Zorc, Dortmund has big plans for Haaland in the upcoming season. The 20-year-old striker is hot property this summer following his consistent performance in the last few seasons.

While rumours of Haaland’s transfer to Chelsea or Manchester City have been rife, Zorc’s latest comments have put a damper on speculations. The Dortmund chief has spoken out on multiple occasions over the club’s intentions of retaining Haaland.

“Haaland is fit and is currently at home in Norway. He will return to training with Dortmund next week”, Zorc’s statement read. “Nothing has changed since the last press meet, and we have extensive plans with Erling in the next season”, he later added.

This news will come as a blow to Chelsea, as the club was quite intent on landing the superstar this season. Sources claim that The Blues are willing to offer up to £150m, hoping that such a large sum will not be turned down. Dortmund is already on a limp as Manchester United confirmed signing Jadon Sancho, and the club is in no mood to lose another talisman.

Even if the club stands to make an extensive financial gain by transferring Haaland, finding a replacement will be a challenge for Dortmund in the current transfer window. If the striker continues to perform in the next 12 months, his true value could be twice as much before 2022.

Manchester City Keen on a Result

Hot on Chelsea’s heels, Manchester City has now agreed to match Haaland’s price. This is a major development considering the current financial crunch due to COVID-19. But with PSG nearing the end of its shopping spree and Chelsea on the verge of picking a strong squad, City is desperately trying to strengthen its ranks.

After losing the price war to acquire Harry Kane and Jack Grealish, City is eyeing Griezmann and Haaland. Therefore, Zorc’s latest comments will surely put a damper on the summer transfer plans.
