It’s about nine weeks to the end of the season, and preparations for the 2022/23 season is in full gear. Most top teams have their plans outlined for the upcoming season, with their targets in sight. Many players are off contract at the end of the season, with several of them hoping for a new challenge. Players like Paul Pogba, Ousmane Dembele, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger have failed to reach terms with their respective clubs and a new club beckons.
Meanwhile, Ajax have problems tying one of their players to a new contract. Amid interest from several top clubs, Ryan Gravenberch has not agreed with the Dutch giants over an extension. Gravenberch confirmed that negotiations are over with the Eredivisie giants.
The situation has alerted Bayern Munich, who have been monitoring him with keen interest.
Bayern back with a new offer
Ryan Gravenberch seems to have come to the end of his days with Eredivisie giants Ajax. After negotiations between the club and player over an extension failed, it is apparent that the youngster would depart the Dutch side this summer. Gravenberch sees his current deal enter its final year in June.
Several clubs have their eyes on Gravenberch, but Bayern Munich have stolen a march on them and lead the queue for his signature. The Bundesliga giants had a first bid rejected for the midfielder but returned with an improved offer.
Reports credited to Voetbal Primeur suggests talks between the two clubs are still ongoing, with Bayern Munich changing their offer. The latest bid for the Dutch midfielder remains €25 million, but instead of €15 million fixed amount initially, Bayern has increased it to €17 million.
Ajax are not impressed with the Bayern offer and are holding out for more. According to the latest report, Ajax want at least €35 million for Gravenberch and are counting on interest from several clubs, including Manchester United and Juventus.
Others interested in Gravenberch
Gravenberch has attracted attention from some of Europe’s elite clubs, with a scramble to land his signature in the summer. Reports suggest Manchester United is one of the clubs looking to sign the Dutch midfielder. United want to improve their midfield as it has become apparent that their current midfield is not up to the level they want.
The 19-year-old is one of the highest-rated prospects in Europe, with ten caps to his name for the Netherlands.
There were links to Real Madrid Gravenberch, but the club seems to have cooled its interest in the midfielder. While Manchester United continue their pursuit of Gravenberch, it looks unlikely the Dutch lad would move to Old Trafford considering the fate that befell compatriot Donny van de Beek.
In a recent chat with NOS via Goal, Gravenberch said negotiations with Ajax have ended, and his father and agent are focused on getting him a new club while he keeps his eyes on football.
