Manchester City are keen on Erling Haaland and might sanction a deal with Barcelona for Jesus.

Over the past decade, the Citizens have spent heavily on player personnel. The trend doesn’t look like slowing down anytime soon.

Manchester City have no issues with offloading players who have failed to deliver. At the moment, they are looking to sign a new striker and are hunting for some of the best.

Last season, Manchester City were on the trail of Harry Kane, and after a protracted engagement with the player, the deal fell through as Harry Kane backed out. The Sky Blues are now on the hunt for Erling Haaland but have competition from top Spanish sides Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

While Manchester City are looking to fortify their forward ranks, rumours are rife of Barcelona’s interest in one of City’s forwards. The Catalans seem interested in signing Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

Barcelona interested in Jesus

There has been much talk about the financial situation of FC Barcelona, but the club has managed to do some good business in the transfer window. The Catalan club are likely to lose Ousmane Dembele, whose contract runs out in the summer. While they try to convince the player to remain at Camp Nou, the aim remains to strengthen the side ahead of a serious challenge next season.

There are links between Barcelona and Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus. As per bookmaker odds, the 25-year-old is likely to leave City this summer. According to media reports via Marca, Barcelona are mulling over a €30 million swoop for the Brazilian forward this summer.

Barcelona already have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferran Torres and Luuk de Jong. The interest in Jesus suggests Xavi Hernandez is not satisfied with his firepower and is keen to stockpile more.

Gabriel Jesus joined Manchester City in 2017 and has made 228 appearances for the club. He has a decent scoring record with the Sky Blues but has not been a real success at the club.

Interest in Haaland

Manchester City continue to show serious interest in bringing Erling Haaland to the Etihad.

According to reports, Manchester City have discussed financial terms with Haaland’s advisors. There are claims that Manchester City are willing to pay Haaland £375,000 per week with lucrative bonuses and add-ons. The total package takes the figure to close to £500,000.

The arrival of Haaland should make room for the exit of Jesus, who has scored 89 goals and 45 assists in his time at the Etihad. Manchester City are packed full in attack and did not feel the absence of Jesus due to injuries. Jesus hasd only six games in 2022.

The Brazilian has been inct competition with Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling and Jack Grealish, who arrived at the Etihad last summer for £100 million.
