Barcelona reportedly offer Lewandowski a four-year contract

Not too long ago, FC Barcelona were begging their players to take a salary cut to allow them to register players for the 2021/22 season. The club has suddenly gone from struggling to find their way through the dark to talking up some of the best players in the game.

Barcelona were able to bring in Ferran Torres, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Adama Traore in January. They have also talked up players like Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, among several other players. The belief was that the Catalan giants could only take on free transfers, which made the pursuit of Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger sensible.

In a twist, Los Blaugrana are eyeing one of the best strikers in the world. Barcelona wants to sign the best player in the world for 2022, Robert Lewandowski. Is there something we don’t know? Perhaps Barcelona seems to have found the end of the rainbow.

Xavi eyes Lewandowski

Barcelona is now the darling of the press. They have moved from outside the top four to the second position with 12 points behind the table-topping Real Madrid. Xavi understands that the team still needs work and is ready to move the team to the next level. The former Barcelona midfielder wants to bring one of the best strikers to the Nou Camp.

While Barcelona have been scoring goals, Xavi seems dissatisfied and wants to bring in a proven scorer. Lewandowski is one of the players Los Blaugrana are eyeing, but the Catalan side have other options on their list.

Confidence is high at the Nou Camp following the transformation under Xavi, and they believe they can attract the big names. Barcelona wants to sign either Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland or Robert Lewandowski in the summer.

Haaland remains a top priority for Barcelona, and if they fail to land the Norwegian, they will turn their eyes to Salah or Lewandowski. Lewandowski remains their final option. Realistically though, Barca stand very little chance of signing Haaland, given the financial requirements that will come with such a move.

Lewandowski is on the brink of leaving Bayern

Every week, the Polish striker is linked with a move away from Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga top scorer may leave the German giants in the summer with his contract expiring in 2023.

Lewandowski has seen his relationship with the Bavarians deteriorate significantly. Following the failing relationship with Bayern, Lewandowski is looking for an attractive project, and the Barcelona project has caught his eye.

Rumours suggest he might try to force a move this summer and head for Spain with only a year left on his contract. According to Sport, Barcelona are willing to offer him a three or four-year deal. Despite having just a year on his contract, Bayern would not let him go for anything less than 65 million euros.

After playing in the Bundesliga for many years, Lewandowski would appreciate a change of scenery. There are rumours he has already signed a contract with Barcelona, but sources in Germany claim it is untrue.
