Current LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid are reportedly making a move for Manchester United’s attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard.
The LaLiga 2020/21 champions are gearing up for a defence of their title and see the 28-year-old English international as a potential addition to their squad. Jesse Lingard’s hot form for West Ham United in the second half of last season’s Premier League is said to have attracted the Spanish Champions.
Atletico would, however, face stiff competition from West Ham United, who are also interested in signing Lingard. The Hammers fans and board are desperate to bring him back to the London club, where he spent the second half of last season on loan.
Lingard, who is currently on preseason duty, could also be offered a new contract worth £130,000-a-week by United. However, the imminent arrival of Jadon Sancho to United and fierce competition for places in the squad could see Lindgard favour a move out of Old Trafford.
Jesse Lingard career rival
Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard is a man whose football career was taking a walk down the corridors of obscurity. His form was so bad that he scored only one goal for United in the 2019/20 Premier League season, with the one goal coming on the last day of the season. He had just five appearances all season.
The Manchester United academy graduated the following season just as he ended the previous season. He fell out of favour with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United’s Manager, and was hardly featured in the manager’s plan.
Lindgard’s career saw the light at the end of the tunnel when West Ham United came knocking in the winter transfer window of this year. The English international joined the London cup and became a man reborn.
He bagged an astonishing nine goals and four assists in 16 Premier League games for West Ham United. His red hot form had bookmakers tipping the Hammers to finish in the champions league places.
Only a Liverpool resurgence and a constant chase by Chelsea, which lasted for the most part of last season’s Premier League, saw West Ham miss out on a Champions League place.
