Arsenal have come under criticism by fans for the treatment of some of their players. The North London club continues to find ways to push the club forward.
However, Mikel Arteta is adamant about the kind of players he wants in his squad.
Arsenal were in hot pursuit for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic and were ready to pull out all the stops to get him, but the Serbian striker turned down their offer for Juventus. Arsenal’s pursuit of the Serbian came amid the furore over Aubameyang’s discipline. The Gabon international has since left the club for Barcelona. Arsenal terminated his contract paving the way for his exit.
The Gunners have eyes on another player and hope to bring him in soon. RB Leipzig midfielder is the subject of interest from Arsenal as they hope to bolster their squad.
Arsenal interested in Nkunku
Christopher Nkunku has had a fine run in the UEFA Champions League this season and has attracted interest from several clubs. A few reports suggest that Juventus is one of the clubs that admires the midfielder, but Arsenal seem to have joined the party. Mikel Arteta is keeping close attention on the midfielder.
According to RMC Sport, Arsenal are still interested in Nkunku and hope to bring him to the Emirates stadium for the 2022/23 season. The report suggests that they are keeping an attentive eye on him.
The report also claims Juventus remain interested in the Frenchman. Both clubs have an arduous task on their hands if they want to get the player. The reports also claim that RB Leipzig does not intend to sell the player this summer. Arsenal may end up in a bidding war with Juventus for the midfielder. The funds to land Nkunku might not be worrisome for Arsenal, who wanted to go big for Vlahovic.
Nkunku in spectacular form
It has been a spectacular season for Nkunku. The 24-year-old was the subject of interest from Arsenal ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
He has been involved in 31 goals from 30 games in all competitions for the club. The Frenchman reserved his best form for the Champions League, where he scored seven goals in the group stages. Of the seven goals scored, he hit a hat-trick against Manchester City. The Frenchman has a contract that will expire in the summer of 2024.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Arsenal have work on their hands to keep Bukayo Saka. Liverpool is said to be interested in the player, and Kevin Phillips claims he has the qualities to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.
