With about three months to the end of the season, clubs haved making arrangements for next season. There is hardly a club in the Premier League that cannot say with a degree of certainty where the problems in their team lie.

Some clubs have to give their team a wholesale makeover, while others need a little tinkering to get them in shape.

A club that has set a high marker for themselves is Chelsea. The brouhaha surrounding the sale of the club is one of the headaches. The squad also needs tinkering as some players would reach the end of their contracts in the summer.

Chelsea haved looking to the future and want to sign reinforcements ahead of the new season. The Blues have their eyes on Manchester City forward Riyad Mahrez. Thomas Tuchel hopes to land the Algerian star, but convincing City to part with their asset would not be a walk in the park.

Two heavyweights zone in on Mahrez

The race for next season has already begun as clubs zone in on their targets. Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are to clash as both clubs show interest in the Manchester City winger.FootMercato claims that Chelsea and PSG are interested in signing Mahrez next season.

The former Leicester City man is subject of interest from the two heavyweights, who look to beef up their attack. PSG are battling with thea of losing Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid and are likely to lose Di Maria in the summer. PSG believe Mahrez is a suitable replacement for the Algerian.

PSG are well-known for collecting stars in their quest to win the UEFA Champions League. Despite the heavy outlay the Parisians have made, the title has still eluded them.

Chelsea made a heavy outlay in the summer. They signed Romelu Lukaku, but the Belgian has not hit the heights. More worrisome for Chelsea is the form of the other forwards. Timo Werner, Calum Hudson Odoi and Pulisic have failed to light up Stamford Bridge, which has led to looking for a more experienced addition.

A successful career

One trophy has eluded Riyad Mahrez, but it does not take away from a beautiful and successful career. The 31-year-old Algerian forward has won every trophy available in England. The crown jewel would have been the UEFA Champions League that has eluded him so far.

Mahrezd his England career with Leicester City as they won a historic Premier League title in 2016. It was the biggest upset in Premier League history. The conquest shot Mahrez into the limelight.

He has carved a name for himself at City and has scored 21 goals with seven assists in 33 games this season. He has contributed immensely to the success of Manchester City, and losing him would be a big blow for City.

PSG expect Angel Di Maria to depart the club this summer and see Mahrez as a suitable replacement.
